First Saturday Dances

We appreciate the Eugene and Springfield Elks Lodges and thank them for hosting our First Saturday Dances during June, July and August.  It was a pleasure to have an air-conditioned space to dance, during the hot weather.

As you can see, the dance community really turned out to enjoy the one hour dance lesson and two hours of open social dancing.   Most of the dancers who attend  are single, and will dance with a variety of partners, while some attend with a partner.

Laura teaches the dance lesson at 7pm.  For the first half hour she introduces the basic dance steps for new dancers and the second half hour she teaches more advanced material for students who are more experienced.  So there is something for every level of dancer.

Our expert DJ, Robert, plays a great mix of swing, ballroom and Latin dance music.   He also includes music for West Coast Swing, Night Club Two Step and some Hustle.   The music is so good you won’t want to sit down!

We hope you will join us each month for our First Saturday Dances.  Location may vary and the dance that is featured at the lesson each month will change.  So please check our website frequently for updates and changes.

Happy Dancing,
Laura and Robert

The Wedding Reception Dance went Beautifully

“I’m a 67-year-old father who hadn’t danced since junior high school gym class. But our only daughter was getting married and I needed to be ready for the father/daughter dance. Panic time. I looked on the internet and found Laura. I was initially nervous but Laura understood my situation, was an excellent teacher, positive, experienced and knowledgeable. My wife said that before each lesson I was a little dubious but after each I was positive and enthusiastic. After six lessons I was confident and ready to go. And the wedding reception dance went beautifully.”

Thanks Laura!

Laura gave us the skills and also the confidence we needed

“We told Laura the song we wanted to use and how much time we had before our wedding and she took care of the rest.  She created a beautiful routine that was still simple enough for us to do as beginner dancers.  The lessons were fun and we always looked forward to attending them.  Laura gave us the skills and also the confidence we needed for our “first dance” to be a total success.  Thank you so much Laura!”

Thank you so much for the lessons

“Thank you so much for the lessons.  Our friends and family were wowed by the spin, including the extra step I took and mesmerized by the dip. Overall, we had fun and it was a great first dance.  Now time for the next set of lessons!  We have a wedding in Mexico. Is it possible to learn some Salsa/Cumbia?
